Pave The Way Photo Recap
December 05, 2011
The “Pave The Way” photo show opened to a packed house last Thursday at the Vans DQM General with skaters, friends and family gathering to view some of their favorite photos, meet the photographers and hear the stories behind some of the most epic shots throughout the history of skateboarding.
“Pave The Way” transported us back to a different time, before 100k purses and endorsement deals were motivators, when people like Mofo, Stecyk, Lance Dawes and Tobin Yelland were out there giving us images and making our imaginations work overtime, pushing us to progress not only as skaters but as people. On the walls are some of the first early pages, covers and out-takes of legendary magazines Thrasher, Slap and Skateboarder, without which skateboarding documentary wouldn’t be the same today.
We were honored to have been a part of “Pave The Way”, and would like to thank C.R. Stecyk, Mofo, Lance Dawes, Tobin Yelland, Vans, and everyone that came out to support the event. It was a true tribute to the presence, support, history and relevance of skateboarding in New York.
“Pave The Way” is on display through January 4, 2012 at the Vans DQM General at 93 Grand St. New York, NY 10013. All of the artwork is for sale, and there are still prints available, come through and check them out!
